Acupuncture for jaw pain, neck tension, and pectoral pain.

What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient practice rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine, in which extremely thin needles are inserted into acupuncture points.

Some people say it sounds scary and painful. But it’s not!

In reality, the needles cause the body to release feel-good hormones like dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin. Patients report feeling “blissed out”, and many of them fall into a deep, restful sleep!

Acupuncture promotes pain relief, relaxation, and overall well-being.

What to expect in an acupuncture session…

When you arrive, we’ll start with an in-depth consultation to discuss your health history, current concerns, and treatment goals. This conversation helps us tailor the session to your individual needs.

For the treatment, you’ll lie comfortably on a treatment table with clean sheets. Extremely thin, single-use, sterile needles will be gently inserted into acupuncture points on your body.

Some people only need a few needles to achieve the full effects of the treatment. Meanwhile, other people enjoy the sensation so much that they want a few packs of needles!

You might feel a mild tingling or warmth in the areas local to each needle. You might also feel a full-body sensation of dopamine, endorphins, and serotonin.

Some people only want to retain the needles for 20 minutes, while others feel so “blissed out” during their treatments that they want to stay on the treatment table for 50 minutes! (Most of my patients want to stay for 50 minutes. It’s rare that any of my patients want less than 40 minutes.)

During this time, patients experience an overwhelming sense of calm and can even drift into a dream state. The needles stimulate your body’s natural healing processes.

After the session, you will feel relaxed and refreshed.

Some people notice immediate benefits, while others (especially those with chronic conditions) tend to experience gradual improvements over several sessions. We’ll discuss any follow-up care or additional treatments that might be helpful for your ongoing wellness.
